5 Quick Ways To Stop Chunking The Ball

1. Balance

In a golf swing, it is very easy to lose your balance when taking your backswing or coming down to impact, but the key is to stay as balanced as possible.

This is because if you were to keep moving your body side to side while swinging, the chance of you getting good contact is very low, your most likely to chunk it if you keep moving.

One drill that could help you with balance would be swinging the golf club in slow motion. This will help you feel your swing and understand how much balance is needed in order for you to hit a flushed golf shot!

2. Weight On Left Side

Weight on your left side during your golf swing is a vital factor and will help you stop chunking the ball. Having weight on your left side will allow you to swing through completely and stay balanced throughout the swing. It will also help you hit the golf ball on a downward motion allowing you to hit ball first.

A good drill for you to try is the following: Grab a soccer ball or any ball decently big, if your right-handed place your right foot on the ball and set up for a golf shot. Then hit a few golf shots in that position, this will allow you to add more weight to your left foot and get used to the feeling.

3. Swing Through

Sometimes we often chunk the golf ball because we de-accelerate our swing when we are on our downswing. All you have to do is just make sure that your swing does not slow down when you start to get closer to the ball. This is because it will allow us to move our hands our fiddle around when we’re just about to hit the golf ball.

A good drill is developing a rhythm in your mind or a metro note and to swing to that beat. It’s a great drill because fixing your tempo will automatically improve your golf game.

4. Shaft Lean

Shaft lean is really important in a golf swing and will really help you with get good contact.

5. Think Positive

If you’re going to address your ball with negative thoughts and constantly fear to chunk it, then I am sorry to tell you, you will continue to chunk the ball.

Think positively and just trust your self and your swing. You got this, don’t let the water hazard or the deep bunker stop you from hitting a good shot.

I am gonna leave you with this…

Would you rather hit a bad shot while worrying about hitting a bad shot or would you rather hit a bad shot trying your best to hit a good shot?
