5 Quick Ways To Stop Hooking The Ball

1. Check Your Stance

Sometimes coaches will tell you your swing is messed up and you need a swing change. Reality is that you just need to fix your stance sometimes. Stance is very important in golf and is very crucial to how your shot will turn out. Somethings that help are:

Pick a spot in front of your ball and set up for that. Just focus on that spot and your shots will definitely get straighter.

Doing just a small thing like this can cure your hook!

2. Check Your Grip

Sometimes your grip can end up being too strong. This basically means that your left hand is turned over more and you need to make it weaker. Speaking from experience this really helps cure a hook.

You automatically use your lower body and end up clearing your hips which results in a straight high ball flight. It may seem weird at first but after hitting 25 golf balls you’ll get used to it.

3. Square Your Shoulders

Sometimes when you set up to the golf ball, everything will be aiming at the whole except for your shoulders. So think about it… if you have a closed face and your shoulders are open, you’re going to swing left with a shut face which will result in a hook.

If you ever see Rory Mcilroy Set up his shoulders are always square. Make it a routine to remember to square your shoulders or even add it in your Pre-shot routine. This will definitely help you swing on your line and help you hit it straighter and stop hooking the golf ball.

4. Ball Position

Make sure that your ball position is not too front or back. When you set up with a mid-iron make sure that you set up the ball in the middle of your stance. This will help a lot because it really affects what you’re doing at impact.

Make sure that you have shaft lean so you’re making a divot after the ball. Rory McIlroy always said when all goes wrong in golf, go back to impact. Sometimes even hitting half shots on the range to figure out where you want the ball to be in your swing can help a lot.

5. Committing To The Shot

Sometimes all it takes is your 100% trust and commitment towards the shot. Before you hit your shot think about where you want it to go and then when you’re setting up just commit to it and trust yourself.
