1. Study The Line
Reading greens is a very hard skill and once you get good at, more putts will drop. Just remember to make sure that you walk past the hole and look at the line from the other side. This is very important because it can change your perspective on the putt.

Look at the direction of the grain. The direction that the grass is pointing as a huge effect on where your ball will end up. Before you end up making a stroke towards the ball, make sure that you are committed to your line. Commitment is the ultimate key to rolling the ball on your line.
2. Perfect Speed
Getting the speed right on putts can be very hard and difficult. There is one trick that really helps you the speed right. Speaking from experience this trick helped me whole more putts and shoot the lowest round I’ve ever shot which is -1. You should add this into your pre-shot routine for your putt:
Take 3 practice strokes.
Look at the hole while taking it
Slow down/Speed Up your stroke based off feel

Looking at the hole and taking practice strokes helps your body understand the feel and how hard you have to hit the putt to get it to the hole.
3. Pick A Spot
It is very important to make sure that your ball starts on your line. A good tip to help is to pick a spot ahead of your ball that’s lined up with your line. The spot should be about 2 feet past your ball so that when you address your ball you can see the spot. The last thing you look at should be that spot.

This will help you start the ball on your line and hopefully hole a lot more putts. This will also help you hit the ball with a more confident stroke. Your focus will switch to the target and help you get rid of any fear you had.
4. Short Putts
Sometimes for 3-foot putts, I tend to look at my spot when I hit the ball. Jordan spieth’s tactic of looking at the hole is actually a very effective tactic and helps you start the ball on line and hole more short putts up to 5 feet.

I am speaking from experience, when you look at the hole on small putts it helps you actually take your mind off your stroke and focus on your target which is the hole.
5. Commitment
Committing to the putt is so important because it helps you stroke the ball confidently. As soon as you step over the putt, you should know what your line is and how hard you have to hit it. DO NOT second guess yourself.

Just trust your line and you will sink the putt. A form of committing to the putt is keeping your head down. Keep your head down for 3 seconds after you hit the ball. This will help you hit the ball in the center and start your ball off on the line that you want.
