1. Don’t Add up your score!
I know it is very tempting to add up your score after 5 holes, but it can do more bad than good for you. You can easily break 100 if you master small tips like these ones. Adding up your score before you are done can cause you to have thoughts like:
“don’t screw up”
“ok, just par in”
“how am I doing this?!”
Thoughts like these can really mess up your golf score, especially if you’re playing really well. The trick to actually not adding your score is to focus on one shot at a time. The only reason you would be playing as well as you are is because of your focus on every shot.
2. Play for Bogey Holes
To break 100 you can afford to make:
2 pars
9 bogeys
6 double bogeys
2 triple bogeys
If you plan your bogey holes you will end up making more pars, this is because you are planning for that score instead of thinking you will par every hole, to be fair if you could par every hole I highly doubt you would be reading the 5 Quick Ways To BREAK 100 In Golf article.
3. Course Managment
Don’t go for every shot, sometimes its ok to lay up or aim for the middle of the green. People often try to pull of crazy shots, remember your not Rory McIlroy.
Professionals train hard and for long hours. Playing the course the way it is supposed to be played will help you score lower. You will end up losing less balls and your score will become instantly lower. Sometimes laying up or going for the middle of the green won’t be fun, but looking at your scorecard at the end of the round will be!
4. Stop 3 Putting
3 putting will tremendously ruin your score. Before you tee off, go to the practice green and try to putt from long range.
- Take 3 balls
- Pick a hole that is 30 feet away
- Two putt all of them/ if 3 putt restart
- Do this 3 times
5. Hit More Greens
Hitting more greens will help you lower scores. Normally if you’re in a position where an up and down will give you par, you’re more likely to make a bogey statistically. However, if you’re on the green, you’re putting for birdie and it’s a better and more comfortable position to be in. When you’re on the range practicing, practice hitting your ball on the green. Even when you’re on the course, go for the middle of the green or the biggest part of the green, doing this will lower your scores and will help you break 100.
